- 1941: Nazi Germany invades the Soviet Union and on August Winston Churchill secretly meets with Franklin D. Roosevelt
- 1941: Italy and Japan declare war on the US, on December the US enters the war
- 1942: The UK and the US decide to invade North Africa and Italy
- 1942: In January, the Allies issued a joint ‘Declaration by United Nations’, this was known as the Grand Alliance
- 1943: Tehran conference takes place in Tehran, Iran between November the 28th and December the 1st
- 1944: D-Day landing in France on June
- 1944: Warsaw Rising in Poland
- 1945: UN conference takes place on Wednesday the 25th of April
- 1945: Yalta conference takes place in Yalta, Ukraine between February the 4th and February the 11th and the Potsdam conference takes place in Potsdam, Germany between July the 17th and August the 2nd
- 1945: The United Nations is established
- 1946: In February a US diplomat in Moscow, George F. Kennan sends a telegram to the US state department describing Soviet foreign policy
- 1946: In March Stalin withdraws from Iran
- 1946: On the 5th of March, former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill gives a speech in Missouri with President Harry S. Truman, his speech became known as the "Iron Curtain" speech
- 1946: Grand Alliance had completely broken down
